Our Community Partners

Mental Wellness Matters gladly works with community partners. Our partners support us in many ways, one of them being direct financial contributions. Partners often help us with specific events. We are always welcoming new partners because we are always planning new events and programs. Here, we would like to spotlight some of our wonderful sponsors from past events and programs.

Partners From the 2021 Lights of Hope Event

In 2021 we held a Lights of Hope event, where we distributed 500 illuminated Yellow balloons to organizations in the community. Handing out these balloons served as a concrete metaphor for the way we are spreading hope for those with mental health and helping everyone realize they are not alone.

The 2024 Leaders In Training program is incredibly fortunate to have the generous support of these amazing sponsors. Thatchwood Ventures, ATB Financial, and Country Roads RV Park have made significant donations to support positive change and development within the program. Their contributions will empower aspiring leaders with valuable resources, mentorship opportunities, and the means to make a real impact in their communities. With the backing of such esteemed sponsors, the program is poised to cultivate a new generation of capable and empowered leaders ready to tackle the challenges of tomorrow.

Youth Month Partners

We routinely hold a Youth Month where we connect with schools in the Peace Region and the surrounding areas. We help the youth understand their own mental health through a virtual event that includes guest speakers, educational presentations, and motivational “food for thought” videos. These events are thankfully sponsored by ATB Financial, Bonnets Energy, and International Paper.

Partners to Our Emotional Education Program for Ages 8 to 12

A couple of times a year, our team organizes an emotional wellness course specifically designed for children between the ages of 8 and 12. This subsidized program lasts six weeks and focuses on helping children build a “mental health toolbox” that includes emotional awareness, self-regulation, and other coping skills. We could not conduct this highly successful program without the help of our sponsors: Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre, Pasco Energy Services Inc., and Thatchwood Ventures LTD.

Our Corn Maze Event Partners

Our annual Corn Maze Event is a fun-filled day of scavenger hunts, kids’ coloring contests, wine tastings, live music, barn dancing, and much more. This event helps show the community that understanding mental health does not have to be bleak. We can have fun and create a more positive mindset surrounding mental health at the same time. Country Roads RV Park generously supports this event by allowing our organization to use its space, and several local musicians donated their talented musical abilities to this event. In addition, this event was directly sponsored by Bear Creek Funeral Home, Christine Fehr Consulting, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grande Prairie, Community Futures of Grande Prairie, Abby’s Food Truck, and Marco’s Hot Chocolate Stand.

Partners in Our Speak Up for Mental Health Event

Our annual Speak Up for Mental Health event encourages those with mental health difficulties to have their voices heard. Speaking up and sharing our stories shows others the inner strength they already possess. This event includes online fundraising activities. More than 100 local businesses have donated items to our online fundraiser. Over the years, we have also received donations for this event from Canadian Tire and Community Futures Grande Prairie.
