Community Engagement Initiatives
Mental Wellness Matters believes that community engagement is a crucial tool in our quest to help everyone understand mental wellness. We connect with our community in several ways, and in turn, they often join our cause. On our mission to break the stigma surrounding mental health, we need the ability to reach every community, regardless of culture, gender, socioeconomic status, or race. We can create a ripple effect that elevates our families, our communities, and eventually, the world.

Why We Connect With Our Community
When we connect with our community, we become stronger. We connect with our community in several ways. We regularly offer services that help everyone understand their own mental health. Our programs and events do not only assist those with mental health difficulties. They help people realize that everyone has mental health and needs to take steps to care for their mental wellness. We offer events geared toward different sectors of our community too. We have programs that cater specifically to children of certain ages and a group specifically for men’s mental health.
What Does Community Engagement Look Like?
We are always discovering new ways to engage with our larger community. Sometimes that can be connecting with one person at a time. Sometimes it is through a large group event or connecting online. No matter how we do it, we love connecting with other people who want to learn about mental health. Some of the events and programs we have held in the past are:
A virtual month-long event where we help children in the Peace Region schools understand their mental health better.
Every June, we hold a live-streamed event that focuses on the specific mental health problems facing individuals in rural communities.
This event allows men in the community to get together, showing their support for local nonprofits and mental health awareness.
We all get together once a year to have a day of exciting activities, all underlined by a unifying goal to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health.
Why Mental Wellness Matters Believes in Our Community
As a local nonprofit geared towards mental health awareness, community engagement is the cornerstone of what we do. Community engagement is a two-way street. We strive to provide programs and events that make a genuine, long-lasting impact on the lives of individuals. On the other hand, we would not be able to do any of this beneficial work without the assistance of our community partners. With the support of our community, we can make a difference worldwide.
